SO101 is a study of social interaction and its products; culture, personality, social groups, institutions and social change.
This class introduces the basic concepts, theories, and scientific methods used in sociology to understand our social worlds. Among other things, we will explore some of the basic ways our society is organized. We will also explore several specific aspects of our society including: the rationalization process, social structure, race, class, and gender, family, urban living, and the specific trend of more people living alone. The over-arching goal for this course is to learn how to look at society and ourselves sociologically.
