As follows from University’s Mission and Creed, the student in RL201 will become familiar with the contents of the Old Testament, recognize the importance of understanding the text’s cultural and historical background, be able to address critically issues involving the meaning and interpretation of the texts, and appreciate the shared religious significance of these texts and stories between various religious traditions. Further, the student will begin to learn to use the tools of biblical exegesis and apply these tools to a close reading of the text. Finally, the student will present her or his work, written or oral, in a manner appropriate to an academic setting.
