Senior Thesis is intended for sociology and psychology majors in their junior or senior years.  It is the undergraduate equivalent of a Master's Thesis, only shorter.  Nonetheless, students will master the art of creating a professional research document. The textbook is the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).  Sessions will be split between classroom discussions, research time, and online forums.

Course Objectives:

  1. Students will experience reading, in-depth, professional journal reports concerning their personal topic of interest, in pursuit of a suitable research question.
  2. Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills in the process of examining and interpreting current academic work.
  3. The completion of the senior thesis will demonstrate mastery of research, and writing skills.
  4. Students will acquire the experience of presenting and defending the results with their class peers.
