Senior Thesis is intended for sociology and psychology majors in their junior or senior years. It is the undergraduate equivalent of a Master's Thesis, only shorter. Nonetheless, students will master the art of creating a professional research document. The textbook is the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). Sessions will be split between classroom discussions, research time, and online forums.
Course Objectives:
- Students will experience reading, in-depth, professional journal reports concerning their personal topic of interest, in pursuit of a suitable research question.
- Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills in the process of examining and interpreting current academic work.
- The completion of the senior thesis will demonstrate mastery of research, and writing skills.
- Students will acquire the experience of presenting and defending the results with their class peers.
