COURSE OVERVIEW

  1. COURSE DESCRIPTION: PY 346 (EX-14):  a study of the perceptual processes and the experience of sensation.  The physiological principles of perception are the underlying tenants of the course. Application perception and sensation theories additional areas of study.
  2. COURSE GOALS:  The course is designed to develop an understanding of the concepts of perception and sensation, as defined by research and theorists in the field. Distinguishing between the elementary processes sensation and the complexity of perception will be defined. The interface of legal and ethical considerations will be explored.

Students will meet course goals by academic readings, lectures, media and other presentations.  Student participation in experiential situations is a strong focus in the course.  Students will be encouraged to use critical thinking skills, academic writing and professional interaction to analyze perception and sensation in everyday life situations.
