PY308 Personality. 3 hours. An examination of the major theoretical paradigms and research studies pertaining to the human personality. Psychodynamic, existential, humanistic, trait, social learning, and narrative approaches to understanding personality dynamics are reviewed. Prerequisite: PY101.

 

Course Requirements:

  1. Students are expected to stay current with assigned readings (see tentative schedule).
  2. Students will complete four (4) email assignments during the current session.  These email assignments will range from short answer, essays, short journal assignments, etc.  The assignment will be emailed to each student by 12:00pm on the day previous to the class day and will be due by 5:00pm on the due date (class day).  Each assignment will be worth 30 points. 
  3. A research paper of at least 8 pages, but not more than 12 pages (does not include reference pages) on a topic directly related to personality development.  The paper will use the American Psychological Association (APA) format.
  4. The course is designed to encourage subjective viewpoints.  Participation in class discussions and emails is required.
