This course focuses on concepts of adaptation nursing related to protective needs: integumentary, oncologic, immunologic, protective sensory systems, activity and rest, and safety; and metabolic needs: fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance and problems of nutrition, digestion, elimination, and excretion. The adaptation model and evidence-based practice are used to promote the highest potential for individuals and families of varying developmental levels and cultures within a variety of healthcare settings. The lab, clinical, and simulation contact hours meet the Missouri State Board of Nursing guidelines for the credit hours awarded. This course is 7 credit hours (5 didactic/2 clinical hours).

Lecture: 12 hours per week for 8 weeks=96 contact hours, Clinical ratio 3:1

7, 12-hour clinical days plus 12 hours for IV skills lab and clinical documentation
