Course Description

3 hours. This course is designed to prepare mathematics educators to write mathematical documents that are of publishable quality. Students will also be instructed in the use of current mathematical software that includes, but may not be limited to, Geogebra and Desmos. Prerequisite: MA118 and MA209 or equivalent; or by instructor's permission. Fall.

Course Learning Objectives

Students will learn to use technology to create professional quality mathematics documents with an emphasis on real-world applications to teaching and learning mathematics.

 

MEASURABLE LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  1. Use technology to create professional, industry standard mathematical documents;
  2. Analyze and diagnose issues in LaTeX code.
  3. Use technology to graph, compute, organize, and investigate data;
  4. Discuss common issues and philosophies on writing mathematical ideas using information and communications technology;
  5. Use a variety of technologies to facilitate and enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics.
