This course has an assignment that is due by 11:55 pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday night of the first week of class.  Failure to complete this assignment will result in your removal from the course for non-participation.

No textbook is required. All materials are posted on the class website.

Course Special Requirements

Students need internet access and a computer that has Microsoft Office Word installed.  Online students may request a CMU email account, which includes the Microsoft Office 365 suite. 

Students will also need to access the following free resources, which will be linked in Resources and Materials once the course begins:

  1. Overleaf: Note that you will need to create an account for this site, but do NOT need to purchase anything. All of the lessons here can be accessed with the free account.
  2. Desmos
  3. GeoGebra

Course Description

This course is designed to prepare mathematics educators to write mathematical documents that are of publishable quality. Students will also be instructed in the use of current mathematical software that includes, but may not be limited to, GeoGebra and Desmos. 3 credit hours

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:

  • Use the technology to create professional, industry standard mathematical documents
  • Use technology to graph, compute, organize and investigate data
  • Use various technologies to facilitate and enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics
  • Discover, share and communicate mathematical ideas using information and communications technology
  • Use GeoGebra and Desmos to create effective lessons for mathematics students
