An inquiry into the cultural and literary value of chick lit. The course will examine the history of women writing novels about women, focusing on economies of gender and definitions of the literary.  Students will be asked to: 1) study literature within its historical, social, and cultural contexts; 2) apply techniques of literary analysis to literature.
