Course Description

The practicum will be a supervised clinical and school-based experience with students with mid-moderate disabilities including physical and other health-related impairments for a total of 32 clock hours. The student observes and uses strategies and techniques demonstrated by the classroom teacher and/or university supervisor. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in SE301.

 

Course Objectives

  1. Explore accommodations for meeting the needs of special students in the inclusive classroom CAT1 (GC5K3), CAT2 (GC5S1, GC5S3), CAT3 (GC5S4), CAT4 (GC5S5), CAT5 (GC5S6; 5.1), CAT6 (5.2, 5.3), CAT4 (GC10K4; 7.10, 7.11), CAT6 (GC10S2; 7.5), CC3 (CC7S1)
  2. Explore various methods for adapting material to meet individual needs CC2 (CC6K3), CC4 (CC6S1)
  3. Identify and/or adapt appropriate instructional materials for students with special needs CAT2 (GC4K3), CAT7 (4.2), CC8 (CC5S2), CC15 (6.4), CAT1 (GC4S10, GC4S13), CAT4 (GC4K6, GC4S5)
