Course Description

Every candidate for the M.Ed. degree must successfully complete their final project or thesis in order to fulfill the research requirement.  To successfully complete this course, students must demonstrate graduate-level competence in research, analysis, and writing by completing a professional quality literature review on an approved topic. 

 

This thesis is actually a type of paper called a literature review.  Your literature review/thesis will contain the following four sections:

 

Introduction

Review of the Literature

Discussion

Conclusion 

 

In addition, there will be a title page and an abstract at the beginning, and a References section at the end, all in correct APA 6 formatting.  Please use the provided template to make sure you are following the correct format.

Course Objectives

Students in this course will demonstrate the following competencies:

  1. Graduate level writing skills.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of both qualitative and quantitative primary source research literature, and the ability to discern and analyze the results.
  3. Ability to read, to understand, and to professionally discuss primary source research literature.
  4. Ability to write a professional literature review paper using APA 7 formatting guidelines.
