Please refer to the student module for all information related to this course regarding course objectives, assignments, grading, and CMU policies. All university policies will be followed. Attendance policy: It is up to the student to contact the instructor to complete missing assignments. ALL assignments must be submitted on the final date of the course. Failure to do so will result in a "F" grade for each missing assignment. If a student is absent from class, the participation points for the date missed will not be allowed to make up. All other assignments can be made up fro full credit as long as they are submitted on or before the final class meeting.

This course has an assignment that is due by 11:55 pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday night of the first week of class.  Failure to complete this assignment will result in your removal from the course for non-participation.

Course Description

This course is designed to familiarize the student with a variety of methodologies in educational research. Students will select an area of interest for secondary research. 3 hours.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:

  1. Express a basic understanding of the APA writing process.
  2. Analyze content, original passages, articles, reports and other written documents related to an educational research topic.
  3. Craft a research question for a literature review based on the collection and evaluation of relevant research.
  4. Identify central arguments and key concepts in current educational research to reformulate in an original format by writing a precis.
  5. Write an annotated outline as a foundation component of a literature review.
