Course Description:

This course introduces students to educational research methodologies and best practices, with the goal of equipping students to undertake research for their graduate theses and to contribute to the body of knowledge that is higher education. Students will learn to read and understand existing literature in educational research and will gain the knowledge and experience to design and implement their own research projects. They will also get practical experience in the writing and formatting of research results.

Course Objectives:

Students in this course will learn and demonstrate the following competencies:

  1. Ability to read and understand research literature.
  2. Ability to perform a literature review and write the results in APA format.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  4. Ability to design and implement a research study.
  5. Ability to write a research paper using APA format.
  6. Ability to give a professional presentation of research results.
  7. Basic knowledge and awareness of existing data analysis techniques.
