Students will become familiar with the organizational roles and responsibilities of the athletic administrator in programs ranging from high school to the intercollegiate level. Learner outcomes will be aligned with both the Missouri State High School Activities Association and the National Interscholastic Athletic Standards. Meets MEd Standard I.

As defined by the NIAAA Code of Ethics Standard, the student will be able to:

• Describe desired professional standards, practices, and ethical principles that should be imbedded in a personal philosophy of athletic administration.
• Explain the benefits received by the school and community as a result of an effective and efficient athletic program.
• Identify local, state, and national athletic administration organizations/associations and compare their commonalities and differences.
• Describe the process and benefits of obtaining voluntary national certification as an athletic administrator.
• Defend the existence of athletic programs and describe how they can positively impact the academic achievement of student participants.
• Describe common organizational and “reporting chains” for athletic departments within large school districts and post-secondary institutions.
