Course Description

Issues of school improvement and reform will be discussed and evaluated. The concept of leadership will be explained using current theories, and different styles of leadership will be explored along with their effectiveness. 3 hours.  Meets MEd Standard 5.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, each student will:

  • Have an understanding of and be able to discuss Teacher Leadership, its nuances and many of the current Philosophies on Teacher Leadership and Educational Leadership.
  • Better understand the relationships between Teachers, Administrators and the Board of Education.
  • Create a Community Engagement Event for their school or classroom.
  • Have developed a Personal Leadership Philosophy, Individualized Growth Plan and a resume that demonstrates their capabilities as a Teacher Leader.
