This course has an assignment that is due by 11:55 pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday night of the first week of class.  Failure to complete this assignment will result in your removal from the course for non-participation. 

Course Special Requirements

This course requires that you work in an accredited or public school early childhood program a minimum of 120 hours.  To complete this course, you must be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry. Failure to register by Wednesday of the first week of class will result in your removal from the course.

To participate in this course, you must have proof of TB testing submitted to CMU. Failure to do this by Wednesday of the first week will result in your removal from the course.

Course Description

This course offers an experimental approach to observe and practice teaching strategies with preschool and/or kindergarten children in an accredited or public school early childhood classroom.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:
 
Enhance competence and confidence in teaching young children.  This includes classroom management, assessment, and working with families.
 
Select, implement, and reflect upon and evaluate teaching strategies, classroom environment, learning experiences, and documentation of children's growth and understanding. 
 
Observe and assist extensively in an early childhood classroom.
 
Prepare, plan, and implement a lesson plan project.
