Course Description

This course will introduce students to a number of current technologies, both hardware and software based, with the intent of enhancing the presentation of materials and the sharing and collaboration of information. The course will include material concerning related social, ethical, and legal issues surrounding technology.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:

  • Differentiate between technology and media.
  • Describe how technology and media can be a resource to facilitate instructional strategies.
  • Describe the procedures for selecting, modifying, and designing instructional materials, indicating when each choice is appropriate.
  • Discuss the advantages and limitations of the use of computers and multimedia in learning.
  • Compare the advantages and limitations of the audio and video telecommunications systems.
  • Describe the characteristics of the Internet, including its advantages, limitations, and instructional applications.
  • Compare the advantages and limitations of audio and video media.
  • Understand the legal, ethical, and moral uses of information and technology.
