You do not need to buy the physical textbook if you do not wish. The only thing you need to purchase is the online Connect Access code for this book. This access code will give you access to an online ebook and online materials. Homework will be submitted for this class through the online site, so the access code is required.

Course Description

3 hours. This introductory course is primarily aimed at non-majors. This study of Biology with a focus on Environmental Science will cover topics including the inter-relations of humans with our environment; environmental ethics; risk assessment; public policy solutions; and soil, air, water, and energy conservation. The laboratory portion of the course focuses on the methodology of Environmental Science. 3 lectures.

Course Objectives

  • Learn about the principles, organization and evolution of natural systems through the study of Environmental Science.
  • Evaluate evidence and arguments concerning issues of Environmental Science.
  • Understand and evaluate the effects of human activities on the earth and living systems.
  • Practice using scientific methods to gather information to test hypotheses about the environment.
