Course Description

A study of and application of two-dimensional and three-dimensional art to include drawing, perspectives, models, etc. The course includes a component of art history and theory. Fulfills Fine Arts Requirements.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:

  • Understand and implement the elements and principles of 2D and 3D design.
  • Learn how to view and discuss artwork.
  • Understand art criticism
  • Learn the process of self-evaluation
  • Research the historical development of modern design.
  • Students will be required to research a specific period in art history and discuss its relative importance to their individual project.
  • Students will be required to define common terms used in 2D and 3D design.
  • Identify and use a variety of materials.
  • Solve design and composition problems in projects.
  • Understand Color Theory and its use in design.
  • Use techniques that best express an idea.
