This course has assignments that are due by 11:55 pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday night of the first week of class. Failure to complete these assignments will result in your removal from the course for non-participation.

Students must sign up for the Major Fields Test (MFT) in Accounting by Week 4 of this course and have the test completed by the end of Week 7. Major Fields Tests are held at CMU campuses around Missouri. It is up to the student to make these arrangements. Please contact your advisor if you have any questions.

 **I know many of you have jobs and may have a commute.  The two books are available in audio format and that may help save you time.  They may cost more in that format, though. Many libraries also have these books.

Course Description

AC480:  3 hours. This capstone course is an integration of all fields of business. Students will read significant works in Business and Accounting with reflections of those readings including how the topics are currently influencing the industry. Students will apply techniques in business finance, cross-functional alignment, competitive analysis and the selection of tactics to build a successful, focused organization. Students will analyze performance data and make decisions designed to move a company towards success which requires them to look at important business issues through an accounting management, marketing, financial and operations lens. The overall goal of this course is for students to successfully demonstrate a broad mastery of the knowledge and skills gained throughout the program. Prerequisites: AC201, AC202, BU110, BU341, MG35, MK330 and the completion of 90 credit hours. Completion of MK339 is strongly encouraged.

 

Course Objectives

The student should be able to:
   1. discuss business ethics
   2. write inter-office memorandums dealing with various topics
   3. distinguish between intelligence and emotional intelligence
   4. cite various laws that protect the civil rights of employees
   5. discuss, debate, and respond in writing to numerous current events in business
   6. research and present thought-provoking information on a current issue within the student's particular field
