This course has an Enrollment Confirmation Assignment that is due by 11:55 p.m. Central Standard Time on the FIRST Wednesday night of classes.  Failure to complete this assignment will result in your removal from the course for non-participation.  This assignment can be found under the Resources and Materials section on the left side of this page.

 

Big Blue Button Meeting Requirements

This is a hybrid course that includes “live” synchronous class meetings one night a week during scheduled class time using the Big Blue Button web conferencing system. Students are required to log in and attend the synchronous meetings. Students will need access to a computer or tablet with reliable high-speed internet connection, along with a webcam, microphone and either speakers or headphones.

The remaining credit hours for the course will be fulfilled through online assignments completed in myCMU. Students must participate in the live meetings and online assignments to be successful in this course.

Students will access Big Blue Button meetings by clicking “Online Meetings” located on the left side menu of this course in myCMU. To participate in the meeting click on the appropriate weeks link during the scheduled time and day of the course. Recorded sessions can also be accessed here.

Textbooks

Wild, and Shaw. Fundamental Accounting Principles. 24th ed., United States:  McGraw-Hill Irwin, 2019. Packaged with Connect.

Connect is an online environment developed through the publisher with interactive exercises that correspond with the book. Access is required because homework is due through the Connect webpage.

There are two options available to purchase this textbook. Option 1 = Etext through Connect Access; Option 2 = Looseleaf Textbook and Connect Access :

If you decide that you would like a physical copy of the textbook, you can purchase it later. However, the physical copy is not required. Once a student purchases an access code and registers for a course, they can purchase the loose-leaf from the Connect Course homepage.

The course Connect address will be available on the syllabus and in Resources and Materials when the course opens.

There is a two week free trial with Connect so you can do the course work on day one of the class. After the two week free trial, you are required to have purchased the Connect access.

Course Description

The continued study of business accounting systems with an emphasis on a) partnerships, b) corporations, c) financial statement analyses, and d) managerial accounting. Prerequisites: AC201 and BU225 or CS121 as prerequisite or co-requisite, or instructor's permission. 3 credit hours.

 

Course Objectives

Students who successfully complete AC202 will:

  • discuss business ethics
  • demonstrate the ability to develop, measure, and analyze financial and other business information
  • communicate financial and other business information effectively while ensuring its integrity
  • demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills in domestic and international settings
