Course Description

A basic survey course of the atmosphere and atmospheric phenomena.  Most topics in this science course are presented descriptively.  However, some familiarity with algebra and computers is assumed.  Emphasis is placed on understanding and application of meteorological concepts to everyday life.

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:
 
  • Understand how heat and energy is transferred in the atmosphere.
  • Understand how different atmospheric variables are measured.
  • Understand basic concepts about meteorological forecasting.
  • Understand how various atmospheric phenomena develop.
