Course Description

This course is a study of the Christian church from the close of the apostolic age to the Reformation; attention is centered on the emergence of Christian theology, on the evolution of ecclesiastical institutions, and on Christian biography. Prerequisites: RL122 and Sophomore standing.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:
  • engage primary source documents,
  • articulate important theological developments,
  • explain the emergence of ecclesiastical structures,
  • connect the early history of the Christian religious movement with the movement today.
