Course Description

A study of cognitive processes such as perception, thinking, learning and problem-solving. Special attention will be given to various applications of cognitive theory and research. Prerequisite: PY101

 

Course Objectives

1.      Understand the stages of information processing and how knowledge is represented and organized.

2.     Describe and evaluate the cognitive theories related to attention, memory, and language.

3.      Apply cognitive psychology concepts to complex, everyday tasks such as learning, decision-making and problem-solving.

4.      Complete a brief literature review on an important topic in cognitive psychology.
