Course Description

This course covers advanced topics important for applied work.  Students will review topics related to intervention development and evaluation, including issues impacting effective implementation such as caregiver training, program evaluation, various career paths and special education laws. Prerequisite: BH423

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:

  • Identify various ways ABA can be implemented across environments
  • Demonstrate knowledge of parent and staff training in the field of ABA
  • Give an explanation of the importance of behavior interventions plans and be able to write a descriptive behavior intervention plan.
  • Describe autism, the diagnostic process and how to implement ABA with clients with autism
  • Demonstrate knowledge of specific problems related to the population you would serve when using behavior analysis.
  • Give a basic overview of social skills programming, problems associated with social skills and how to address those with ABA in mind
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of Life Span development and how ABA can be incorporated to enhance an individuals life
