Students enrolled in the annual opera workshop are placed through audition and selection process and are cast in principal roles or secondary roles in scenes or full operas as well as the choral ensemble. Students learn music assigned and the learn the stylistic backgrounds of scenes and roles they prepare. Students are coached through vocal and musical study, movement and interpretive expression based on the music style and details of text and develop a characterization. Music Students may repeat ensemble course for credit and this ensemble is required for vocal performance majors. Over continuous time and study students develop a greater depth of music and dramatic understanding and a more proficient execution of stage technique.
