Course Special Requirements

Students need internet access and a computer that has Microsoft Office Word installed.  Online students may request a CMU email account, which includes the Microsoft Office 365 suite.  Students will also need access to the following:

Course Description

This course concerns creating mathematical documents. Students will learn to read and write in the language of mathematics, including all the symbols and notations commonly found in the field of mathematics, by creating original documents and interpreting and replicating existing documents. Students will be introduced to the use of LaTex. Prerequisite or Co-requisite: MA509; or equivalent; or instructor's permission.

Course Objectives

The objectives of this class include, but are not limited to: 

  • writing mathematical documents of publishable quality. 
  • writing mathematical documents with precision and accuracy. 
  • reading mathematics with a critical eye for accuracy and reliability.
