COURSE OBJECTIVES

Students will be able to answer problems relating to the techniques of integration, improper integrals, parameterized curves, polar coordinates, infinite series and power series.

MEASURABLE LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this class, students will be able to:

• Use integration to measure volumes
• Use integration by parts
• Apply trigonometric identities, trigonometric substitution and partial fractions in evaluating integrals
• Determine when integrals are improper and distinguish between convergent and divergent improper integrals
• Consider applications of integration to geometry, physics and engineering
• Apply concepts of calculus to parametric and polar curves to determine arc length and surface area of revolution
• Plot points and regions using polar coordinates
• Determine whether a series is convergent or divergent using tests
• Find the Taylor and Maclaurin series for certain classes of functions
• Determine the interval and radius of convergence of a power series
