This course focuses on techniques of topic development, drafting, and revision to help students write clear, concise sentences, paragraphs, and essays.  EN110 is also the study of grammar, syntax, and diction, and their relationship to effective writing. This course is part of the General Education Core Curriculum, specifically targeting student development of oral and written communication. Students will be asked to: 1) Write logically developed, organized rhetorical documents using standard grammar, usage, mechanics, and spelling; 2) Articulate ideas clearly and logically for varied audiences and purposes; 3) Improve critical thinking skills; 4) Understand and employ basic methods of argumentation; 5) Create sentences and paragraphs that communicate effectively.
