Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:
- To demonstrate understanding of the historical and current roles of teachers, parents and families in the transition process.
- To demonstrate the legal foundations of transition.
- To collaborate effectively with families using excellent communication skills to assess what needs the special needs child may have.
- To demonstrate partnerships with families.
- To involve parents with integrating transition goals and writing an IEP.
- To demonstrate an understanding of transition into employment, and /or post- secondary education,
- To help families transition into living into the community.
