Objectives not from the 2016 CACREP standards:
1. Students will understand the historical perspectives of addictions counseling.
2. Students will understand motivational interviewing and other psychotherapeutic approaches and how they are utilized in addictions counseling.
3. Students will understand comorbid disorders, group work, pharmacotherapy, 12-step programs, and maintenance and relapse programs.
4. Students will understand addictions in family therapy, rehabilitation, and school settings.
5. Students will understand issues in addictions counseling that are related to multi-culturalism, ethnic diversity, gender, and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning populations.
