Art Study Abroad, MayAway, 2019

                  

This study abroad course will focus on direct study on-site of the art and architecture of Rome, Assisi, Florence, Paris, Giverny, and Amsterdam.  Monuments and museums will be visited and discussed.  Masterworks dating from antiquity through the modern era will be included and set into their historical contexts.  (3 credit hours, Fine Arts or Humanities)

Objectives:

  1. To broaden international awareness through travel and study in Italy, France, and the Netherlands.
  2. To experience, up-close, actual masterpieces of art and to articulate responses to and understanding of these.
  3. To develop an understanding of the time framework of history, its major periods, and the sequence of the styles of art.
  4. To record thoughts and reactions to the sites, art works, and cultures we encounter in a daily contemplative journal.
