Course Description

This course will examine altered physiologic functions and their effects on adaptation. The roles of heredity and the changing environments on physical function are emphasized.  Prerequisites: BI107, BI205 and BI305 or current RN license. 3 hours.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant should be able to:

  1. Identify alterations in body physiology caused by a disease or injury.
  2. Describe the etiology and pathogenesis of a given disease of injury process.
  3. Discuss the influence disease or injury processes have on client adaptation.
  4. Understand basic treatment interventions for select disease or injury processes.
  5. Demonstrate the concepts of evidence-based decision making and critical thinking as part of professional nursing practice.
