Hello everyone, my name is Dakota Roam. I live and Poplar Bluff, MO and have lived in the area my whole life. I married my high school sweetheart when I was 19 and we are expecting our first child any day now! I am currently working toward my bachelors degree in Accounting. My wife graduated with hers about two years ago and it made me want to look into the field. I learned with my ten years of banking experience where I work currently, it would compliment my position well and allow me to move up within the company to become the Chief Financial Officer. My job has taken notice of my classes and have recently given me a promotion to Operations Manager. I am thinking it is a plan to get me some much needed experience to set me up for when I graduate. Me and my wife have also kicked around the idea of one day once we are more settled to open up our own tax accounting business somewhere. She is studying for her CPA right now and hopes to have it in the next few months. I will graduate in a little over a year and hope to also try and get my CPA. We are very much looking forward to the future! Have a great semester everybody!

Hello Dakota,

I think opening a up a business together is a great idea! Some people I know though find that work and home life seem to get tangled up and eventually it all seems like a blur of work, they have said its hard on marriage. I still think the idea though would offer many more benefits and not every relationship is the same, some are stronger than others. I think though if you could handle high school together and all the drama that it provides in everyday life, I believe that working together everyday will be a piece of cake! Good luck this term!

Thank you,

Raegan Bowers

Nice to meet you, Dakota.  I also am from Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  Congrats on the child on the way! I am also working for my Bachelors in Accountancy, but I am also going for my Bachelors in Business Management. I would think getting your bachelor's in Accounting would help move you up at your job since you have worked there for so long and it seems like that is already happening by the first promotion.  Therefore, also congrats on the promotion.  Seems like your life is on the upward climb right now.  Just don't let the stress of all the responsibilities get to you. I hope you enjoy this class and the path you are going on.
