Week 1 - Introduction Original post: Mon 1/18/2021 at 5:18 PM

Hi class – My name is Jamie Meyer. I live in Florissant Missouri and am currently taking online classes to achieve my Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration. I have been in health care since I was sixteen years old. I work for a local hospice organization currently and truly enjoy my job. I have been married for about three years and have three fur babies: Lacey (black lab), Chloe (Chihuahua mix), and Riley (Beagle mix). My long-term goals are obviously to remain in health care. I am not 100% sure what my calling is but I have recently come to conclusion that I would really enjoy a non-patient focused position. I have taken a liking to the billing aspects of health care and also enjoy some of the financial aspects; at least those silos that I have been exposed to like payroll. Receiving a degree is my first step to achieving my overall goal. With a Health Care Administrative degree, I will have access to more positions within the industry, have the confidence to apply for higher ranked positions, and obtain knowledge to be successful in future positions. Given my lack of education, I feel like I am in a rut and unable to grow in healthcare. I have taken accounting classes in the past and have really enjoyed them. I look forward to learning and exploring more of the accounting field this term.
Best of luck to everyone - Jamie

Hello Jamie,

I am in a similar situation as you, I am not 100% either on what I really want to do with my future, but I have my fingers crossed that I figure it out soon. All I know currently is that my goal is to have my bachelors in accounting completed this fall 2021. I have one fur baby he is a silver chocolate named Deacon. We enjoy walking when the weather is bit warmer. I wish you the best of luck this term!

Thank you,
